Pick Your Own Flowers
A Blooming Summer Experience
Wander through rows of 75 vibrant dahlias, gather your own seasonal bouquet, and soak up the beauty of the Forage flower field. With nearly 4,000 dahlia plants, sweet pea jam jars, and plenty of family-friendly activities, it’s a wonderful way to celebrate summer in the Vale.
Whether you’re here for a peaceful afternoon, floral inspiration, or a hands-on workshop, there’s something for everyone among the blooms.
Just a 5-minute walk from Forage Farm Shop & Kitchen along a scenic footpath beside our free-range chickens, there’s plenty for all ages to enjoy this summer. Flower ticket holders can also enjoy 10% off in the shop and restaurant on the day of their visit.
Driving from the farm shop?
Simply follow the arrows to reach the flower field, just a quick 2-minute drive down the hill.

Photo Opportunities in the Field
The flower field is packed with moments worth capturing. Take a photo on the swing nestled among the blooms, pose under the floral entrance arch, or snap a few shots beside our vintage tractor. Whether you’re a keen photographer or just after a lovely family photo, you’ll find plenty of inspiration in the field.
Wedding Floristry & Photography
We welcome florists, stylists and photographers looking to use the field for weddings, events or shoots. It’s the perfect place to gather seasonal stems or capture a styled moment.

Flower Field Mini Photo Sessions
with Rachel O'Keefe
Capture summer memories surrounded by thousands of blooming dahlias at Forage Farm. Spend 20 minutes amongst the flowers with local photographer Rachel O’Keefe. These sessions are perfect for couples, families, or individuals wanting beautiful, natural portraits in our vibrant flower field.
You’ll receive a gallery of 30 natural images with 5 high resolution downloads included and a beautiful bunch of blooms to take home.
Events & Activities
Bug Hunts every Thursday in August
Looking for a hands-on summer activity for your little ones? Our August bug hunts are back. Children are invited to explore the flower field, learn about nature, and search for insects using trail sheets, magnifiers and more.
Bug Hunts Cost £8 Per Child
On 7th and 21st August:
sessions run in the morning, with arrivals between 10am and 12pm (finishing at 1pm).
On 14th and 28th August:
the hunts take place in the afternoon, with arrivals between 2pm and 4pm (ending at 5pm).

Guided Tour with Rob Evans
A Floral Masterclass in the Heart of the Vale
For those passionate about plants and gardens, this exclusive walk and talk with serial Chelsea Flower Show serial gold medallist winner offers a unique chance to learn from one of the UK’s top dahlia growers. Join Rob Evans amidst the vibrant fields of dahlias on Penllyn Estate Farm, nestled in the rolling Welsh countryside next to Forage Farm Shop & Kitchen.
Over the course of the tour, Rob will guide you through a spectacular dahlia field, bursting with colour and variety. Discover the secrets of successful dahlia growing at home. From soil preparation and planting techniques to feeding, staking, and deadheading for a longer flowering season. Rob will also introduce you to the diverse range of dahlia shapes, sizes, and classifications, helping you to identify your favourites with confidence.
You’ll also gain expert insight into cutting dahlias for the vase—learn how to select the best stems, when to harvest them for longevity, and how to condition your flowers so they last beautifully at home.
£45 per person

Plan Your Visit
We recommend booking your tickets online in advance so we can prepare accordingly and ensure the best experience for all visitors. However, we understand this isn’t always possible. Walk-ins are welcome on the day and are priced at £6 per person, payable on arrival at the flower field.

Why not make a day of it? Visit Forage Farm Shop & Kitchen before or after your flower-picking experience and enjoy 10% off in the shop and restaurant on the same day. Forage is open 7 days a week from 9am–5pm, with dinner service on Fridays and Saturdays from 6pm–11pm.

If you have your own secateurs, feel free to bring them along. We also have a limited number available to borrow from the entrance hut.
From 12th September onwards, please use the toilet facilities at Forage Farm Shop & Kitchen before or after your visit, as there are no toilets available at the flower field.
We're Easy to Find!
Just follow signs from the A48 into Penllyn Estate.
Signs will guide you to your parking space safely.
Travelling Westbound on A48
Coming Westbound from Cardiff on the A48 it is the third exit (sign posted Penllyn Estate) off the first round about after the Cowbridge turning. Enter Penllyn Estate and drive down the private road; Forage is about 600m on your left.
Travelling Eastbound on A48
Coming Eastbound from Bridgend on the A48 it is the first exit (sign posted Penllyn Estate) off the roundabout just before Cowbridge.
Enter Penllyn Estate and drive down the private road; Forage is about 600m on your left and our flower field will be clearly sign posted from there.
FAQ's
What does my ticket include?
Your ticket admits one person to the Pick Your Own Flowers field. Secateurs are provided to help you pick your flowers.
Is the event buggy or wheelchair friendly?
Due to the uneven terrain and layout of the flower field, the area is not suitable for wheelchairs or buggies.
Can I bring my dog?
For hygiene reasons, dogs are not allowed in the flower field.
However, well-behaved dogs are welcome on leads in other parts of the Forage site.
Can I bring my own food and drink?
Please do not bring outside food or drinks to the flower field.
However, Forage Farm Shop is just a 2-minute drive away, where you can find great food and drinks.
Bottled water is available for purchase at the flower field.
Can I visit the farm?
Your ticket grants access to the flower field only.
For your safety, access to the rest of the farm is not permitted during your visit.
How long will the experience take?
Most visitors spend around one hour enjoying the flower field.
We kindly ask that you keep your stay in the dahlia car park to no more than 1.5 hours.
If you’d like to stay longer, feel free to move your car to the main Forage car park – there’s plenty of space.
When booking, you’ll choose a 1-hour time slot. Please arrive within your selected time.
Where do I park?
Parking is free and clearly signposted when you enter Forage from the roundabout.
For everyone’s safety, please do not stop or park in the farmyard.
How will my flowers be wrapped?
We hand-tie all bunches with twine. If you’d like, you can add gift wrapping for a small extra cost.
What if I can no longer make the time slot?
If you’re no longer able to attend, please email us at flowers@foragefarmshop.co.uk as soon as possible.
Ideally with at least 48 hours’ notice.
Is my ticket refundable or transferable?
Ticket Refunds and Transfers
We cannot refund or transfer tickets. However, if you bought insurance through XCover when booking, you might claim a refund. For more details, please visit www.xcover.com/claim. You can exchange your tickets for another date up to 1 week prior to your booking, this can be done through the ‘manage your booking‘ section via TicketSource.
Do I need to bring my own secateurs?
You don’t need to bring your own secateurs – we provide them on-site for your use.
