Gower Brewery
Welsh Ales and Lagers
43 miles from Forage Farm Shop
At Forage Farm Shop, we love championing Welsh producers who care about quality, provenance and doing things properly. That is why we are delighted to shine a spotlight on Gower Brewery, an award-winning Welsh brewery based on the beautiful Gower Peninsula, around 43 miles from Forage.
Established in 2011, Gower Brewery crafts ales and lagers inspired by its surroundings. From its distinctive beer names to its responsible brewing methods, the brewery celebrates the landscape, heritage and community that make the Gower so special.
A Taste of the Gower Peninsula
For Gower Brewery, location is at the heart of every brew. The Gower Peninsula became Britain’s first designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and its coastline, landmarks and local history continue to inspire the brewery’s range.
You can see that connection in the names of its beers. Gower Gold, Lighthouse Lager and Gower Power all reflect the character and spirit of this part of South Wales.
Rather than creating beer without a sense of place, the team celebrates the landscapes and stories around them. As a result, every brew offers a little taste of coastal Wales.
The brewery’s philosophy also fits naturally with our own values at Forage. We believe in supporting producers who take pride in where they come from and the products they create.
New Cans: Gower Gold and Riptide
There is exciting news for beer lovers, too. Gower Brewery’s Gower Gold and Riptide are now available in cans, giving customers two more ways to enjoy the brewery’s range.
Gower Gold is a well-loved name in the brewery’s collection. Meanwhile, Riptide brings another option for those who enjoy Welsh lager.
Both beers reflect the team’s commitment to making quality beer rooted in its home on the Gower Peninsula. Their new cans also offer an appealing option for sharing with friends, taking to a gathering or adding to a Welsh food and drink gift.
At Forage, we are always pleased to introduce customers to local producers with a genuine story behind their products. These new releases are another reason to discover what Gower Brewery has to offer.
Good Elf: A Seasonal Welsh Beer
Gower Brewery also has something special for the festive season: Good Elf, its seasonal beer.
This limited-edition offering adds a festive touch to the range. It is a great one to look out for as the colder months approach, whether you are exploring Welsh beers for yourself or choosing something different to share.
Seasonal products are part of what makes discovering independent producers so enjoyable. They give customers something new to look forward to and celebrate the changing seasons.
Brewing More Responsibly
Great beer is only part of the Gower Brewery story. The team also works hard to reduce waste and make better use of the resources involved in brewing.
Water conservation is an important part of that effort. Brewing uses significant amounts of water, so the brewery operates a closed-loop thermal transfer system.
Here is how it works: the team captures and stores the cooling water used to chill hot wort. The brewery then uses that water as the strike water for the following day’s brew. This approach reduces overall water use and cuts the energy needed to heat fresh water for the next batch.
However, the brewery’s approach to sustainability does not stop there.
From Brewing Grain to Local Livestock
Gower Brewery also gives its brewing by-products a useful second life. Local farmers collect all the spent grain, including spent spelt malt, to feed livestock.
That includes cattle and alpacas on farms around the Gower Peninsula. Instead of sending this organic material to landfill, the brewery turns it into a valuable resource for neighbouring agricultural businesses.
This is a fantastic example of the circular economy in practice. The brewery reduces organic waste, while local farms gain nutritious animal feed.
What’s more, these partnerships strengthen the connection between brewing and the agricultural community. By working together, local businesses can make better use of resources and support one another.
We particularly value this approach at Forage because it reflects the importance of thoughtful production, local relationships and reducing waste wherever possible.
Why Gower Brewery is a Great Fit for Forage
