OatSoak’s story begins with Arthur, Lucy’s young nephew, who struggled with severe eczema. His skin was often red, sore, and visibly painful, leaving his family desperate to find a solution. While his mother carefully selected skincare products marketed as “natural,” they soon realized that many still contained preservatives and chemicals that irritated his skin.
Determined to find a truly natural alternative, Lucy and her family began researching skincare ingredients. They discovered that colloidal oatmeal, a finely ground oat powder known for its skin-soothing properties, was the key ingredient in many doctor-prescribed treatments. However, high costs and limited availability made it difficult to access.
Taking matters into their own hands, they started experimenting with pure oats, creating a simple yet effective formulation that transformed Arthur’s skin. Encouraged by the results, Lucy took a leap of faith, securing funding from the CYCA (Carmarthenshire Youth & Children’s Association) to invest in small-scale production. What started with tabletop machines has now grown into a thriving business with a dedicated manufacturing unit in development.
