 We live in a world where foods of all different types, from every corner of the globe, can be purchased by simply walking into our local supermarket. Yet, despite such choice and availability, it is easy to overlook how, and from where, our food has originated.


About Us

Here at Forage, we believe that understanding the journey that our food takes to our plates is a key part of appreciating and enjoying what we eat and drink. Much of our produce originates from Penllyn Estate Farm, with the remainder sourced locally where possible. Community is close to our hearts, and supporting the local economy is a key part of that. We are proud of our roots and strive to meet the highest standards from farming through to the food that we sell and serve.  

Where It All Began

Penllyn Estate Farm has long been under the stewardship of the Homfray family, who continue to oversee the management of the mixed-use livestock and arable farm today. Starting a farm shop has been an ambition for many years; as far back as 2001, plans were laid to launch such a project but various obstacles prevented it from coming to fruition. Then, in 2018, after many years of preparation, the grant of planning consent enabled Forage to become a reality.  With our two farm managers, Andrew Shackel and Damien Burnell, overseeing a committed and highly skilled team, the project has been driven forward and Forage has gone from architect’s drawings to a fully operational farm shop and restaurant.
